This unique park doesn't get enough credit! You can get some great views from the car, but a short hike or two make your time especially worthwhile. Twin Sisters hike is a short .4 miles with great photo opp potential (be careful to respect the environment), and the Cap Rock loop is .5 miles with a badlands feel to it.
Eyefull Vista is another can't-miss easy stop.

Glendive Dinosaur & Fossil Museum is also located nearby if dinosaurs are your jam.
The rock formations are really interesting! And the campsite we nabbed was right on the edge of a bluff with an incredible view! Really there are only two downsides: how remote the park is, it takes multiple hours to get there from any major town; and how hot it can get in direct sun. Even in February I was in shorts and sweating!

I was bummed I didn't have more time to spend in this unique and remote area! Makoshika rises like a oasis of adventure in the middle of flat prairie. The dinosaur history is fascinating too. There isn't much shade in this park, so come prepared on a hot summer day with lots of water and sunscreen!
