• Located about 40 miles east of Missoula, out in the mountains.
• There's at least 10 miles of gravel roads, though they are well maintained.
• The walk around the ghost town is informative if you stop for a map and information booklet at the visitor's center.
• Plenty of parking and pit toilets are available nearby.
• Several hiking trails depart from the trailhead.
• In winter, Garnet is only accessible by snowmobile and cross-country ski trip.
