This beautiful overlook is the perfect place to take a sunset photo. The view to the west is the Rocky Mountain Front... it's amazing. This spot is up on a series of cliffs overlooking a large valley between you and the mountains. We've seen a family of owls with several babies, deer, elk, (lots of folks see grizzly bears in this area). This is halfway-ish between Augusta and Choteau and a perfect spot to stop for a quick photo during other exploration. There is a barbed wire fence marking the boundary between the viewpoint and private property.
This is a great place to take a break on HWY 287 between Fairfield and Augusta. I have fallen in love with the views of the Rocky Mountain Front! And I can spend a really long time looking at how the Montana prairie runs into the mountains. In spring, I like searching for Grizzlies through my binoculars at this location, but I have yet to spot one!
