Touted as the best preserved of all Montana ghost towns, Bannack is pretty impressive, and is also a National Historic Landmark. Learn all about Montana and the gold rush in this cute boom town. Check into Bannack Days if you visit in late July, for historic displays, re-enactors, and fun activities.
Facilities are great here with a seasonal visitor's center, gift shop, and restrooms. Bannack State Park Campground is just down the road from the town.
What a cool experience! We visited on a winter week day so we missed out on a few buildings and tours. It was still so fun going in the buildings just imagining what it was like back in the wild west. The buildings are really well kept and during the summer, I am sure there is ample opportunity to learn about this gold rush mining town.
