We only hiked in on the Arrastra Creek Trail about 2 miles, as it was a very wet rainy day for us, but the trail continues over 8 miles up into wilderness area. This is a very scenic hike, you walk along the creek, listening for waterfall cascades, and through some burn areas sprinkled with bright purple fireweed flowers in the summer. We hiked on a cloudy day, but still got beautiful mountain landscape views. We ended where the trail first crosses the creek with a small one-sided rail log bridge. We spent some time at the creek crossing allowing our dogs take a cool drink from the creek. The trail was in good condition with a few overgrown shrubs here and there. You can return the way you came, like we did, or you could continue to where the trail intersections with Trail 488.
